NFTE Chicago/Midwest Curriculum Lab Day - Final Pitch Prep

Volunteers are critical to every NFTE student’s learning experience.  They bring concepts and ideas to life and connect the classroom to today’s changing work environment. NFTE volunteerism is skills-based and provides opportunities to share expertise, insights, and inspiration about careers, becoming an entrepreneur, and what it takes to succeed.

NFTE Lab Days bring subject matter experts into the classroom to share their skillset with budding entrepreneurial thinkers. Opportunities are curriculum-aligned to ensure relevancy so that students can easily apply lessons and insights to their business concepts.

April: Final Business Plan Pitch Preparation

Through the year, students are preparing a business plan to pitch at their classroom and school competitions to win an opportunity to compete at the regional quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals events.

Students are developing a pitch deck and a 3-and 7-min pitch for each of their competitions.  Each pitch deck reviews core concepts that they have learned throughout the year emphasizing ideation, their value proposition, a competitor analysis, marketing, and financials.  At this Curriculum Lab Day, volunteers are invited to help students bring all the concepts together for their final presentation.

Suggested Topics Include:

  • Clearly articulating their business idea
  • Understanding their target market and what sets them apart from their competitors
  • Cost-effective channels for finding customers and understanding precisely who their customers are
  • Defining a unit of sale and articulating (through their math) their variable, fixed, and startup expenses to know their breakeven point.

**Please make sure that you sign up for the specific event with your corporation or where there is the greatest need.  All volunteers will receive a follow-up meeting invitation that will include the zoom link, instructions/agenda for the day, and the lesson in advance.  There will be a 15-minute orientation prior to each session.**
