Alumni Programs: Career Series

NFTE Alumni are an exceptional cohort of diverse young adults that have completed one or more NFTE experiences, from in-school courses to summer programming, and have developed an entrepreneurial mindset and innovative business idea along the way. Over the past 33 years, NFTE has served 1.1 million underestimated young people around the world and has national alumni network of over 40,000 members. Reflective of NFTE’s mission, our most active alumni are young adults (16-25) that are on their journey as students, entrepreneurs and young professionals.
 
One of the highest requests of alumni (and high school senior students) is for advice on the world of internships and career building. As a part of our volunteer network, it would be incredibly valuable to capture and showcase your experience navigating through your career and share specific advice for our Alumni looking to kick off a career in your industry.

Alumni Series: ‘Working in the Fashion Industry’
 
Volunteers share their insights and experiences as it pertains to seeking, applying, interviewing, landing, and working in a specific role in the fashion industry. Each individual video should be 1-3 minutes long. All responses should be based on personal experience: we are looking for real-life experiences, not a reformulation of best practices from an outside entity.
 
Suggested Topics:

• Best resource or process for creating your resume or cover letter
• How you began the process of looking for internships
• How much time did you spend applying to each internship you applied to?
• What did you do to prepare for your first interview? Second? Beyond?
• How do you prepare to highlight your strengths in an interview?
• The hardest interview question you’ve ever gotten
• What interview question do you have the best answer to? What’s your answer?

• Schedule: one-time
• Time commitment: 30 minutes per response, including prep
