NFTE Volunteer Roles

Our volunteers play the critical role of bringing authenticity and validation to the student experience. We offer a variety of opportunities to fit your schedule and passion - everything from sharing your entrepreneurial journey or business lesson as a guest speaker to making a lifetime impact as a business coach or mentor.


Business Plan Coach & Mentor
Coach Commitment: 1-3 hours; Mentor Commitment: 1-3 hours, on-going basis
Requirements: Background Check; Coach/Mentor Orientation

Through one-on-one and small-group sessions, coaches assist students with developing their business plans, presenting before an audience, and preparing for questions and evaluation from a panel of judges. Mentors provide deeper impact by supporting with students on an on-going basis.


Business Plan Judge
Commitment: 2-3 hours
Requirements: Competition Orientation

At NFTE competitions, judges evaluate students business plans and presentations while offering students a realistic perspective and advice for further development.

Guest Speaker
Commitment: 1-2 hours
Requirements: Orientation; Presentation Approval

Guest speakers facilitate a lesson or presents a topic to complement the NFTE curriculum. As business professionals and entrepreneurs, guest speakers add dimension to our students’ learning by offering fresh perspectives, which connect the textbook to real-life business experiences.

Field Trip Host
Commitment: 3-4 hours
Requirements: Orientation; NFTE planning & coordination

One of the best ways to expose young people to business concepts is to have them visit an actual business and meet the actual people who make it happen. Field trips give students the chance to learn about professions, industries, and the challenges and rewards of the workplace. As a field trip host, your organization provides an invaluable lens into real-world career opportunities.

Event & Office Assistants
Commitment: Various
Requirements: Various

Event & Office Assistants are vital resources that support NFTE's mission by helping in a variety of areas. Whether it's managing a competition as a Room Capain or Timer, helping with event registration, assembling competition materials, or promoting NFTE at community events, your time and talents are always welcome.
